Girls Talk #23 – Playing With Fire

“Don’t do it, you’re playing with fire!”, that is something  I heard a lot. Friends mean well, they want to protect you. But it’s you who will get burned.
Believe me, sometimes you need to play with fire and burn your fingers. Once, twice, it does not matter.
Bad decisions in life, miserable dates and weird sex are important parts of growing up. Why avoid it? Why telling someone to not do something while you never got to know the same situation. People are different, and different people certainly make different choices.
Instead of telling someone  to not do something, we should try to encourage everyone we love to do what they desire.
Of course we can ‘warn’ them and talk about experiences, that is what friends do. The secret is to find a balance between being worried and letting people find their own way by making mistakes.
Just because your best friend says the guy is not good for you, and well maybe she is even right, does not mean you should never try it.
As Mark Twain once said wisely ‘Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.’
In the end all that matters is you. This is not meant to sound egoistic but it is you who needs to live this life to the fullest and it is your personality that leads the way. Not matter what road you may take, be happy with who you are and what you do.
